Conservation and Repair

Repair of an early Mormon Hymn book.
I matched the original board of this book by scanning the embossing and having an artist draw it. A photopolymer plated was made from the drawing and used to emboss the replacement board with hand-dyed leather to match. The book was repaired and resewn and then rebacked as usual.
Repair of Hawaiian Edition of the Book of Mormon.
Replacement endpapers were made dying my own handmade paper to match. The leather for the repairs and reback was undyed Hewit's calf which was then dyed and tooled with the striated pattern of the book leather.
